When we finally made it over to Tavolino on the East side, we were ridiculously excited. Because let’s face it, every foodie has a soft spot for Italian. With fresh made pasta and pizza on the menu, what’s not to like? Well, we can now confirm that Tavolino does officially live up to the hype.
The plan was to try one pizza and one pasta dish, and yes we snuck in an appetizer too after reading that the burrata appetizer with mushroom bruschetta was a favorite.
If you are a white pizza lover, this is one that you absolutely must try.
For pizza, we settled on the formaggio: mozzarella, fontina, gorgonzola and basil topped with Aglio e Olio. If you are a white pizza lover, this is one that you absolutely must try. Allison has a love of pasta that runs deep, but this pizza still beat out the pasta dish as the best dish of the night for her. The combo of cheeses was sharp and creamy, with just the right amount of salt and a satisfying cheese to crust ratio.
Eric settled on the burrata appetizer as his favorite dish of the night, which was spreadable on a crostini with mushrooms and Calabrian chili pepper for a touch of spice.

Tavolino specializes in ragu sauces with fresh made pasta. We ordered the special of the night, which was a meat sauce made with milk braised pork shoulder, short rib and wild boar. The pasta is not drowning in sauce, but still offers delicious savory and umami flavors with a satisfying texture.

Even the cocktails at Tavolino should be mentioned for their unique ingredients. The Bella Venezia comes out looking like a glass of white wine, and while it does have prosecco, it’s the grapefruit and peach liqueur flavors that stand out in this vodka based drink.
